We moved into a small one bedroom in Soho this year and although I would love a big massive Christmas tree like I grew up with, I’m pretty sure I would end up fighting the tree for space in the kitchen. So, this year my boyfriend Phil and I took to the streets and hit the Union Square Green Market in search for a creative alternative to a traditional big pine tree. We browsed the succulents, and fell in love with this little guy.
But we weren’t done- then we found a little rosemary plant whom we thought needed a new home and with a little prune job and a new ceramic pot it would turn into a great little Christmas tree. Not to mention it smells like Christmas! Meet Rosie…. 😉
And finally we found a little guy with a lot of character that screamed Charlie Brown Christmas tree. We took all our plants home and brainstormed some potting ideas.
Phil had the genius idea of using one of our Moscow mule mugs to re-pot our little Charlie Brown tree in and it turned out perfect. This year I may have had to say goodbye to my big tall Christmas tree dreams but in the end I welcomed 3 awesome little guys with more personality than one perfect pine tree (in my opinion). Now to keep them alive without my green thumb….
1 gold acrylic paint tube
1 small rosemary bush
1 small clay pot
1 winter firn
1 Moscow mule mug
1 box of small ornaments
** Be creative! Also at the plant store there was plenty of small cute cacti that needed a good home and maybe a little star on top with some tiny colored fabric poms for ornaments. We had also thought of using a Christmas Coffee mug for our little rosemary plant but had an extra ceramic pot lying around. Its Christmas so you can go crazy, I was going to bring out the glitter but Phil wasn’t too keen, and opted for tiny santa ornaments 🙂
